About us

What is Jiu Jitsu?

Jiu-Jitsu is a dynamic martial arts system that combines judo throws, wrestling takedowns, joint locks, and chokes. It is a control-based system in which technique, based on the principle of leverage, overcomes strength and speed - by mastering different positions, a fighter can dominate a stronger and faster opponent and force him to submit.

How did Jiu-Jitsu come about?

At Domitor Jiu-Jitsu Vilnius club, we teach BJJ (Brazilian jiu-jitsu). This martial art originated from traditional Japanese jiu-jitsu, which was adapted in Brazil over time and further developed by the Gracie family. Brazilian jiu-jitsu, which grew from Japanese roots, has become a modern fighting system constantly evolving and refined by jiu-jitsu schools around the world. Today, BJJ is one of the most important martial arts, widely used in both self-defense and mixed martial arts (MMA).
